C.P.E. Ottenheim has worked as a genetic counsellor at Amsterdam UMC’s Clinical Genetics department since 2007. Her main focus is on genetic issues affecting people who wish to have children, such as male infertility, investigations of the abnormalities patients carry, prenatal diagnosis and the provision of information on PGD. She feels it is important that couples who wish to prevent giving birth to a child with an inherited disease receive as much information as possible on PGD and any other options which may help them have a healthy child. She considers it a challenge to support prospective parents in this decision-making process.
